Anthony Seldon
A Pilgrimage of Peace
In 2021, distinguished historian, educator and commentator, Anthony Seldon set out on a 1,000km walk tracing the historic route of the Western Front.
His inspiration – a World War I soldier who dreamed of a ‘Via Sacra’ to commemorate the war dead and stand as a marker for the triumph of peace. In 2024 Anthony Seldon sets out to walk a new 1,300 km route from where World War I ended to Auschwitz. As he passes through towns and hears stories of people who resisted in the face of unimaginable brutality during World War 2. He reflects on these ‘figures of light’ and their uplifting stories and asks how we can draw on their lives to build a better and more peaceful world.
