Stephen Cooper and Zoe Gilbert share the stories of war poet Nowell Oxland and Amy Hawthorn, the woman who saved his work for posterity.
Their different journeys and research have culminated in a book that shares Oxland's work for the first time 110 years after his death and fills an important chapter in the history of Cumbrian place-writing. Robert Macfarlane has described ‘Chasing the Phantom’ as ‘a moving, valuable project of rescue and salvage.'
