Standing in their Shoes, A Fiction Workshop
Authentic historical fiction should stand a reader in the shoes of men and women long dead, seeing their world as they did. Often there are gaps in the narrative and evidence. This workshop aims to demonstrate how to reconstruct a plausible version of the past, and then how to self-publish it.
Dr John Little was head of history in two schools, and has written fifteen books, both factual and fiction. His The Testimony of Sal Madge’was runner-up in the fiction category of the 2020 Lakeland Book of the Year Awards. He writes well-researched historical novels set in Cumbria, as well as some non fiction. Currently he is working on a novel set in Maryport.
