Kathleen Jones
Workshop: Real Lives - True Stories
How do you write about someone’s life so that it’s as compelling as fiction? When you have a whole life to write about, where do you begin? This workshop will explore different ways to construct a narrative out of your own life or someone else’s, and how memory and imagination can combine to produce fully-rounded characters and vivid events.
Kathleen Jones was born and brought up in the Lake District and now lives in Penrith. She has published 17 books – biography, fiction and poetry – and won several awards including the Barclays Bank Prize for biography. Two of her books were Top 10 Sunday Times best-sellers. Kathleen taught Creative Writing and Women’s Studies for a number of universities and is a regular performer and workshop leader at literature festivals around Britain. She is currently a judge for the Lakeland Book of the Year awards.
There will be a 15 minute break during the workshop
