North Cumbria Stanza

Song of Myself

Poetry has always been a vibrant medium for self-exploration. Poet and editor Kelly Davis will host a reading by the Poetry Society’s North Cumbria Stanza Group, including Kathleen Jones, Ilse Pedler, Kerry Darbishire, Elizabeth Stott, Shelagh Brown, Susan Cartwright-Smith, Jean Hill and Luke Bateman, with guest readers Ros Edwards and Phil Hewitson. Come and hear contemporary Cumbrian poets interrogate age-old questions of identity and belonging.

Kelly Davis lives in Maryport, on the West Cumbrian coast. Her poems have been published in Mslexia, Magma and London Grip, and she has twice been shortlisted for the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award. She collaborated with Kerry Darbishire on their pamphlet Glory Days (Grey Hen Press) and her first solo collection, The Lost Art of Ironing, will be published by Hedgehog Poetry Press in 2024.
